PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal print head which can bring about good image quality by preventing density from being rapidly changed owing to the thickness of a metallic cover and the like. SOLUTION: This thermal print head is equipped with a heating circuit part 13 and a drive circuit part 14, which are provided on the side of the same surface of a substrate 10; the heating circuit part 13 comprises a glaze layer 15 which functions as a heat insulating layer, a heating resistor 16 which is formed on the glaze layer 15, an electrode 17 which is formed on the heating resistor 16 by providing a gap, and a covering layer 18 for covering at least a heating part 16a of the heating resistor 16 exposed in the gap G part of the electrode 17; the drive circuit part 14 has a drive IC 20 which is covered with a protective layer 21 and which controls an electric current passed through the heating part 16a; the thermal print head is provided with the metallic cover 22 which covers a part above the protective layer 21 and which is partially provided with an inclined area 22b inclined with respect to a surface of the substrate 10; and an inclined plane 22c is provided on a part of the outer surface of the inclined area 22b by decreasing its thickness.
