<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ophthalmoscope that handles a great number of single-shot fundus photographs as those taken in a medical examination, and more precisely and promptly detects and determines a defective site of the fundus such as an optic papilla depressed area associated with glaucoma or a macular region associated with a retinal detachment. <P>SOLUTION: The ophthalmoscope is characterized by generating a three-dimensional image consisting of pixel positions and luminance from pixel data consisting of the pixel positions and luminance of pixels constructing visible light ray or near-infrared images, and by generating a local gradient approximate image based on an angle to the standard horizontal surface of the three-dimensional image by obtaining a local approximate plane of an arbitrary pixel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
