<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which temporary fixing is carried out at a low temperature for the surface of a document and an image on the surface can be completely fixed when an image on the back is fixed. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a printing side determination part 141 that discriminates which side is used for the subsequent printing of double-sided printing, out of the first side subjected to printing first and the second side, or the rear of the first side, subjected to printing next; a fixing part 143 that fixes toner to recording paper by the application of heat; a temperature detection part 144 which detects the temperature of the fixing part 143; and a temperature control part 155 which controls the temperature of the fixing part 143 based on the temperature detected by the temperature detection part 144. When discriminating that the first side is used for the subsequent printing, the temperature control part 155 controls the temperature of the fixing part 143 so that the temperature reaches the first temperature lower than the lower limit temperature at which the toner is fixed to the recording paper. When discriminating that the second side is used for the subsequent printing, the temperature of the fixing part 143 is controlled so that the temperature reaches the second temperature equal to or higher than the lower limit temperature at which the toner is fixed to the recording paper. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
