<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a print system, a print data editing device and a printer, allowing easy registeration of medium information related to a new print medium, to the printer. <P>SOLUTION: A signal of a unit detection switch provided in a roll paper unit set position of the printer is detected (S4). When a value indicated by the detected signal is not stored in a medium information storage area, it is decided that it is a new roll paper unit 70 (S7: YES), and insufficient requirement information is transmitted to a personal computer 200 (S8). When receiving the medium information (S12: YES), a medium information acquisition process is performed (S13).
