PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp of which a shade of a metal plate used as a floating anode (FA) is made invisible when the lamp is lighted in high frequency. SOLUTION: In the case of lighting the fluorescent lamp, having electrodes 20 at both ends of a lamp tube 10 and formed so as to surround the electrodes 20 by the metal plate (FA) 11 insulated from the electrode 20 in high frequency, the width w of the metal plate (FA) in axial direction of the lamp is made not shorter than 3 mm and not longer than 10 mm, and the distance d between the metal plate (FA) and an inner wall of the lamp tube 10 is made distant from each other by 7 mm or more.
