The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition with improved dissolution of lipophilic drugs in an aqueous medium. It is found that pharmaceutical compositions comprising a powder of lipophilic compounds, such as hormones and steroids (e.g. drospirenone and estradiol valerate), on molecularly dispersed form together with a carrier having a specific surface area of at least 250 m<2>/g, such as silica dioxide, e.g. silica dioxide marketed under the name Aeroperl(R), has improved dissolution properties of the lipophilic drug.
