The machine (10) includes a workpiece spindle (14) mounted on a machine bed (11) and which receives a workpiece (13). A grinding station (19) is set next to the workpiece, and supports a grinding spindle that secures a grinding tool (20). A workpiece carrier (23) is arranged on the machine bed, to support the workpiece at the grinding location (21) and serve as a workpiece guiding system. The workpiece guide system includes an adjustment device which adjusts a workpiece receptor between vertical and lateral positions relative to the spindle axis (22). An independent claim is also included for a workpiece adjusting method.
