TERMINAL DEVICE FOR UPDATING COMPUTER PROGRAM AND UPDATE METHOD

In order to protect high-value contents, a computer program using the contents should be updated. However, in the conventional automatic computer program updating system, when a terminal device is started and update is executed, a user cannot use the computer program and should wait until the update processing is complete. In a terminal device of the present invention, when reproducing a content of high value, update processing is executed prior to reproduction. However, when the content has a low value, an allowance time is set in advance and before executing the update processing, a time required is predicted by calculation. If the required time predicted is within the allowance time, the update processing is promptly executed. If the required time predicted exceeds the allowance time, the update processing is executed after the use of the computer program by the user.
