The device has a gripping unit which is disposed at an end of an articulated handling arm. The gripping unit has movable grip jaws (2, 3) with convex sides that enclose a concave side of a fixed grip jaw (4) such that a connection of the gripping unit with the handling arm is made by utilizing a fixation unit (5), along an axis perpendicular to an axis of articulation of the movable jaws.
