To provide an automatic teller machine having a function of exchanging spoiled notes for unspoiled notes. An automatic teller machine according to this invention includes: a note input/output unit (101) which notes are put in and withdrawn from; a note housing unit (120 to 124) which houses notes; an input unit (204, 206, 207) which is inputted an information by a user; a control unit (106) which controls each of the units; and a memory unit (107) which stores information necessary for processing by the control unit (106), in which the note input/ output unit (101) allows a withdrawal of a sum of notes from the note housing unit (120 to 124) in response to a user's transaction request accepted by the input unit (204, 206, 207), and a redeposit of part of the notes withdrawn therein is accepted before completion of a transaction, the control unit (106) selects notes determined to be unspoiled from the notes housed in the note housing unit (120 to 124) and the note input/output unit (101) allows a withdrawal of a sum of the selected unspoiled notes equivalent to the redeposited notes. <IMAGE> |
