Cylinder head gasket

The cylinder head gasket has a sealing plate (10) with at least one sheet metal layer and at least one combustion chamber holes (12,14,16). The gasket has a support device (60) to absorb loading forces extending perpendicularly to the sealing plate and acting upon the gasket in the installed state. The support device has a region of the metal layer thickened by an embossing, whereby the thickened support region encompasses none of the holes of the gasket to be sealed.
