The burner arrangement for a heating unit has a combustion chamber (18), and a flame tube (22) leading combustion products away from the combustion chamber. The flame tube has an inlet section (28) in which the products of combustion enter and an outlet section (36) from which they exit. At least one intermediate outlet section is provided between the inlet and outlet sections and from which emerges a part of the combustion gases from the flame tube. An independent claim is included for a heating unit and especially a heater in a motor vehicle.
