In a boat hull formed from synthetic-resin-bonded glass fibres the hull is made in a number of parts disposed on opposite sides of a vertical central plane, the opposed edges of said ports on either side of said plane being provided with flanges between which is clamped a keel plate of greater width than the width of the flanges. In the embodiment shown the hull is made in two halves, each being symmetrical about a transverse vertical central plane so that only one mould is required. Each half comprises a shell 10 formed with a gunwale 11 and a flange 12 by which the two halves are secured on either side of a metal bulb keel 13. The ends of the keel are curved upwardly at 14, and in the case of a screw-propelled bolt, the curved portion of the keel at the stern supports a propeller shaft bearing tube. Metal cleat plates 23 secured to the keel at either end support lifting hooks 26. A keelson 18 secured to the keel supports bearers 20 carrying floorboards 22. The bearers could be formed from synthetic-resin-bonded glass fibres and bonded to the inner surface of the hull. Closed channel plates 28 of synthetic-resin-bonded glass fibres bonded to the shell 10 support wood thwarts 29 carrying side benches 30, beneath which benches are walls 32. enclosing buoyancy tanks and having chocks 36 supporting additional thwarts 35. |
