The method involves inputting a fingerprint image signal using a fingerprint input module, and sending the signal to a fingerprint recognizer (20) for producing a recognition code. The recognition code is compared with a recognition code pre-stored in a basic input/output system (BIOS) (12) for producing a comparison result that is utilized for determining whether the booting of a computer is authorized or not. An independent claim is also included for a motherboard of a computer.
