PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector with a distance and tilt angle measuring instrument capable of measuring the tilt angle of a projection surface to an optical axis of projection of a projector and the distance to the projection surface for distortion correction of video. SOLUTION: This projector is so constituted that a 1st imaging lens 51 capable of transmitting only a light beam of a 1st color and a 2nd imaging lens capable of transmitting only a light beam of a 2nd color are horizontally arranged successively to a projection lens 21. An optical position detecting element 53 detects an incidence position of reflected light from a bright point which is transmitted through the 1st imaging lens 21 and 2nd imaging lens 22 and outputs it as position information. A photodetection position analytic distance and tilt angle calculation part calculates the distance to the bright point from the distance between an incidence position of reflected light incident from a bright point 71 of the 1st color through the 1st imaging lens 51 and an incidence position of reflected light from the same bright point with the 2nd color through the 2nd imaging lens, calculates the tilt angle of the projection surface 70 to the projection optical axis of the projecting device from the distances to two bright points projected on specified positions, and outputting it as a tilt information.
