PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starting device capable of determining existence of abnormality of a starting means with considering change of an internal combustion engine side and capable of appropriately coping with each abnormality. SOLUTION: This starting device is provided with a starting means 4 starting an internal combustion engine 1, an engine abnormality determination means 16 determining existence of friction abnormality of the internal combustion engine based on rotation speed of the internal combustion engine at a time of stop of the internal combustion engine, and a starter abnormality determination means 16 determining existence of abnormality of the starting means 4 based on cranking rotation speed at a time of start of the internal combustion engine and determination result of the engine abnormality determination means.
