PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine control device, for requesting a driver to stop a vehicle and giving the driver room to search a parking place before engine stop, when the engine is forcibly stopped before run out of fuel. SOLUTION: The engine control device comprises: fuel remaining amount detection means 14, S3 for directly or indirectly acquiring a remaining amount of fuel in a fuel tank 1 output restriction means S8, S9 correcting a target fuel injection amount to make engine output be lower when the fuel remaining amount acquired by the fuel remaining amount detection means becomes smaller than a first predetermined value, than the engine output in a normal operational status; engine stop means S10, S11 for forcibly stopping the engine when the fuel remaining amount acquired by the fuel remaining amount detection means 14, S3 becomes further smaller than the first predetermined value and becomes smaller than a second predetermined value set in a state where the fuel in the fuel tank 1 is not completely run out.
