摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium alloy ingot in which the fluidity of molten metal is excellent, castability is secured, and a casting thereof has satisfactory stretch properties, and to provide its production method. SOLUTION: The method for producing a magnesium alloy ingot is provided with: a step where, by weight, 0.001 to 0.01% strontium (Sr) is added to a magnesium alloy having a composition comprising 5.5 to 6.5% aluminum (Al), 0.8 to 1.2% zinc (Zn), 0.24 to 0.6% manganese (Mn);≤0.01% copper (Cu);≤0.002% nickel (Ni);≤0.005% iron (Fe);≤0.1% silicon, and the balance magnesium (Mg) with the other impurities of≤0.02%; and a step where casting is performed at a casting temperature of 630 to 730°C. A casting having satisfactory mechanical properties can be produced from the strontium-containing ingot produced by the above method. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
