The invention provides a method for controlling the power dissipation of multislot digital mobile communication systems comprising the steps of preparing a relation between the number (Ns) of executive TX timeslots in a predetermined time period (T) and the dissipated power (Pout) in said predetermined time period (T) for different output powers (Ps, Ps*); determining a maximum allowable dissipated power (Pmax) in said predetermined time period (T); and coordinating the number (Ns) of executive TX timeslots in said predetermined time period (T) and the output power (Ps, Ps*) such that the maximum allowable dissipated power (Pmax) in said predetermined time period (T) is not exceeded.
