PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a plasma display panel that can realize higher luminance and higher gradations. SOLUTION: Disclosed is the method for driving the plasma display panel characterized in that: row electrodes are divided into a plurality of blocks of pluralities of row electrodes; a one-field period is divided into a plurality of sub-field (SF) periods as to each block; a setup operation (VST), an address operation (AD), and a sustaining operation (SUS) are separated in each sub-field period and the address operation is performed in each sub-field period so as to overlap with a sustaining operation of another block; and an erasing operation (ER) is performed in a final sub-field period so as to overlap with a setup operation of another block after the finish of the sustaining operation.
