PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an optical multiplexer demultiplexer which is reduced in wavelength dispersion of output light and an optical multiplexer demultiplexer enabled to function for multiplexing and demultiplexing at the same time, the optical multiplexer demultiplexers being characterized in that wavelength dispersion is extremely small. SOLUTION: The optical multiplexer demultiplexer has optical paths including waveguides and comprises a plurality of optical multiplexing and demultiplexing circuits, each optical multiplexing and demultiplexing circuit has 1st to 4th ports, the 1st and 2nd ports being connected to the 3rd and 4th ports through the optical paths including the waveguides, and an output optical path being different according to a port to which an optical signal with a specified wavelength is inputted. When one of ports of a multiplexing and demultiplexing circuit of a 1st stage is connected to one of ports of a multiplexing and demultiplexing circuit of a 2nd stage and a signal is inputted to another port of the multiplexing and demultiplexing circuit of the 1st stage, an optical path of the multiplexing and demultiplexing circuit of the 1st stage that the signal passes through and an optical path of the multiplexing and demultiplexing circuit of the 2nd stage that the signal passes through have opposite wavelength dispersion characteristics.
