PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which regulates efficiently the quality of an image in the printer for printing the image from a modality device. SOLUTION: When an image quality regulation mode is set, the printer 3 reads image data for evaluation from an evaluation image data storage unit 36, and processes to gradate the read image data for the evaluation by using a gamma curve selected by a user. After the gradation process, the printer 3 prints the image for the evaluation based on the image data for the evaluation after the gradation process by a printing unit 33. When the regulating operation of the gamma curve is performed by the user through an operating unit 38, a controller 32 regulates the gamma curve selected by the user in response to the operation, and updates the gamma curve stored in an image process parameter storage unit 34. And, an image processor 35 performs the gradation process at the image data for the evaluation by using the gamma curve after the regulation, and the printer 33 prints the image for the evaluation on a transmission type monochrome film based on the image data for the evaluation after the gradation process.
