PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer conveyance device or the like in which when toner sticking to a transfer conveyance belt is removed by a rotary brush roller, degradation in cleaning capability caused by accumulation of toner in the brush roll or inclination of the bristles of the brush roll can easily and efficiently be prevented, and thereby the cleaning capability can be maintained and stabilized. SOLUTION: The transfer conveyance device has the endless transfer conveyance belt 3 which rotates in the direction B in which a recording sheet P for transferring a toner image is passed through the transfer position of an image carrier 2 rotating with the toner image T held on it. The transfer conveyance device includes the operation period in which the brush roll 4 is rotated by a rotating means 5 in the reverse direction C2 (or C1) of regular rotation direction C1 (or C2) during the rotation of the transfer conveyance belt 3 in the conveyance direction B.
