PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding member capable of reducing a coefficient of friction more. SOLUTION: At least one sliding surface of the sliding member to be slid with interposition of viscous fluid is provided with a fine recessed part 21. When length of an opening part of this recessed part in a sliding direction is L and length from one end of the opening part of the recessed part 21 in the sliding direction to the lowest part position of the recessed part is S, S and L are set to satisfy a relation S/L at 0-0.3.
