PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt type continuously variable transmission capable of positioning a pulley with high accuracy with simple constitution without using a plurality of shims. SOLUTION: In this belt type continuously variable transmission wherein a bearing outer ring 33A for a pulley shaft is accommodated in a recessed part 6P formed on a case, and one end part of the bearing outer ring 33A is pressed from an outer side of the recessed part 6P by using a bearing retainer 201P fixed to the case to be axially positioned and fixed, a projecting part 33A-1 is formed on the other end part of the bearing outer ring 33A, a contact face 202A having a different axial height in the circumferential direction is formed on a position axially opposite to the projecting part, and an adjusting means (projection 201P-1 and a plurality of notches 33A-2 of bearing outer ring 33A) is mounted for adjusting circumferential positions of the bearing outer ring 33A and the bearing retainer 201P.
