PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize a projection of a steering wheel into a cabin at the time of a vehicular collision and restrain the degradation of durability of a pinion and a rack to the minimum, in an electric power steering device provided with two assist motors. SOLUTION: A first assist motor MA connected to a pinion shaft is more compact than a second assist motor MB connected to a rack bar in order to ensure a large clearance between an engine and the first assist motor MA at vehicular collision, so that the projection of the steering wheel 11 due to retreat movement of a pinion shaft and steering shafts 12, 14 can be minimized. A large load is applied to a meshing part between the pinion and the rack by a steering toque amount that is inputted into the steering wheel 11 as compared to an input portion of an assist torque from the second assist motor MB to the rack bar, however, the first assist motor MA is reduced in size, so that the load applied to the meshing part can be reduced and the durability can be enhanced.
