PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder capable of adjusting the position of a recording head appropriately by specifying the timing of the recording head touching a recording sheet accurately. SOLUTION: Delay time data measured at a delay time measuring section 52 is recorded at a delay time recording section 53. A delay time specifying section 54 specifies the time difference between a delay time specified at a first timing in response to detection of a measuring pulse signal and a delay time specified at a second timing corresponding to a measuring pulse signal detected by predetermined number of pulses before the measuring pulse signal detected at the first timing. An average delay time difference specifying section 56 determines the average value of delay time differences specified in correspondence with a plurality of measuring pulse signals. A drive control section 58 regulates the interval between a printer head and a platen based on the moving amount of the printer head when an average delay time difference deciding section 57 decides that the average value of delay time differences has reached a threshold.
