PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brush favorably sticking a bristle-filling base to a coating material. SOLUTION: This brush is so formed that bristle bundles 3 are inserted in bristle-filling holes 21 of the bristle-filling base 20 having the plurality of bristle-filling holes 21 and a melt lump 30 is formed in one end of the bristle bundle 3 projecting from the bristle-filling hole 21. The melt lump 30 is covered with the coating material 4. An inner area formed by connecting the bristle-filling holes 21 disposed in the outermost circumference out of the bristle-filling holes 21 (a bristle-filling area S0) is 100-170 mm<SP>2</SP>. The ratio S1/S0 of a contact area S1 of the coating material of the bristle-filling base 2 to the bristle-filling area S0 is 0.5-0.9. An erecting wall part 200 is provided in the outer edge of the bristle-filling base. The erecting wall part 200 has a contact face B1 approximately perpendicular to the bristle-filling base 20 and preferably, its ratio B1/S1 to the contact area S1 with the coating material 4 is 0.1-0.6.
