PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for precisely detecting genetic polymorphism of an aldehyde dehydrogenase in good repeatability by solving the problems such as requiring much labor and time of a conventional method; and to obtain a reagent therefor. SOLUTION: The method for detecting the genetic polymorphism of the aldehyde dehydrogenase involves carrying out the amplification by using at least one of primers hybridizable with a sequence of at least continuous 15 bases, or a base sequence complementary thereto in the sequences represented by sequence numbers 1-7 specifically hybridizable with an aldehyde dehydrogenase gene in the method for detecting the varied position of the aldehyde dehydrogenase gene.
