<p>Taurinate-functional, quaternary ammonium group-containing organopolysiloxanes are new. Ionic group-containing organopolysiloxanes of formula (I) are new. Da-An-Bm-(D>)a (I) A = a group of formula -[R2>-(SiR2O)b-SiR2-R2>-N+>(R1>)2]-; #B = a group of formula -[R2>-(SiR2O)b-SiR2-R2>-N((CH2CH2SO3)->)]-; #D = hydroxy, halogen, an epoxy-functional group, -N(R*>)2 or - (NR*>CH2CH2SO3)->; #R*> = H or hydrocarbyl and -N(R*>)2 or - (NR*>CH2CH2SO3)-> can be in the form of ammonium salts; #D> = a group of formula -R2>-(SiR2O)b-SiR2-R2>-D; #R = SiC-bonded, optionally substituted 1- 18C hydrocarbyl; #R1> = optionally substituted 1-18C hydrocarbyl or can be part of a bridging alkylene group; #R2> = 1-20C hydrocarbylene optionally substituted with OH and optionally interrupted by one or more O atom; #n = an integer 1-50; #m = 0 or an integer 1-50; #a = 0 or 1; and #b = an integer 1-200; with the provisos that (i) (I) contains >=1 anionically charged -(CH2CH2SO3)-> group; (ii) n units A and m units B can be in a block, statistical or alternating arrangement; and (iii) (I) can contain gegenions X-> and Y+> where X-> = an (in)organic anion and Y+> = an (in)organic cation. An independent claim for preparation of (I) from epoxy group -containing organopolysiloxanes is also included.</p> |
