A printing press has an elongated ink tray sub-divided into a series of ink color zones in which the respective width of the gap is independently adjustable. The color zones between a mid-plane and the outer edge form a number (n) of neighboring colour groups, and a second group of n-1 neighboring color zones. The width of the color zones in the second group is less than the width of those in the first.
