The wire cable with an optic fiber strand, especially as a safety cable for a vehicle preparing a ski piste, has the optic fiber (10) in the outer gap between two outer wire strands (3), or within a dedicated groove (11). An intermediate plastics mass (2) forms a layer between the outer strands and the inner core (1). The optic fiber is of plastics clad silica (PCS) connected to a light source at one end, and neighboring wire strands can be given a luminescent coating.
