Before fitting, the mudguard (1) is a mainly flat rectangular board (4) of flexible plastic. When fitted to the vehicle, it is fixed and held under tension by vehicle-mounted holders (5) so that it occupies a curved position (6) and at least partially covers the treads of a wheel (3) at a distance. The holders also extend the curved shape into vertical sections (15,16). The board is formed by at least one plastic panel or a plastic hollow chamber panel. The holders are cross supports (7), holder plates, cable ties (11,12) or similar.
