OPTICAL RECORDING METHOD AND OPTICAL RECORDER

An optical recorder in which a light strategy employed in recording is determined depending on a recommended value of light strategy recorded on an optical disc (160) and the characteristics of an optical recorder for use in recording, a recommended asymmetry value is determined depending on the difference between the numerical aperture NA1 of an objective lens which is the recording condition of a recommended asymmetry value recorded on the optical disc (160) and the numerical aperture NA2 of an objective lens (150) of the optical recorder for use in recording, and then recording on the optical disc (160) is performed according to the light strategy and the asymmetry value thus determined. Light strategy information suitable for each optical disc is not required to be held entirely, and optimal recording can be ensured even for an optical disc the optimal light strategy information of which is not known previously.
