<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To activate a prescribed function according to the rotation direction of a casing. <P>SOLUTION: A portable telephone 1 comprises a body and a display unit, and is foldably formed by rotating the display unit by a rotation section. A detector 51 detects the rotation of the display unit to the body and the direction of the rotation. When a CPU 41 determines that the display unit is rotated clockwise to the body on the basis of the detected result supplied from the detector 51, the CPU 41 selects a first function that is set by a user in advance and is stored in a RAM 43 and activates the first function.
