PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology promoting effective use of biomass discharged in the country by establishing technology allowing authentication of the biomass by use of a public network such as the Internet and associating it with a domestic discharge amount trading system and a traceability system of a product.

SOLUTION: In this authentication method for the biomass, an authentication medium is attached to a first commodity configured with a packet obtained by dividing the biomass as a unit of trading, or a second commodity configured with a product produced from the first commodity as the unit of the trading, and a specific authentication symbol stored in the authentication medium is detected to authenticate the commodities.
