PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection display device with which system configuration is made in a simple processing circuit, and cost is reduced. SOLUTION: A projection display means 100 for projecting a video to a surface to be projected by using a projection means 103 has a photodetecting means 102 which is arranged apart a prescribed base line length D from the projection means and detects a reference video projected to the surface to be projected and a scanning means which scans the reference video in the base line length direction on the surface to be projected. The means is configured to perform the focusing of the projection means based on the scanning position information of the reference video when the photodetecting means makes the prescribed detection.
