PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To very efficiently remove boron from metal silicon by a simple method at a low price. SOLUTION: In a method for removing boron from silicon, metal silicon containing boron as an impurity is melted by heating to its melting point to 2,200°C, and a solid based on silicon dioxide and a solid based on an alkali metal carbonate and/or a hydrate of the alkali metal carbonate are added to the molten silicon, thereby removing the boron in the silicon while forming slag.
