Method for wetting a coal bed includes drilling of a well, with determination of the section of the well with maximal chip liberation, with tightening the well to depth not less than the depth of the section with the maximal chip liberation, with feeding working liquid to the bed. Wetting is performed not less than in two steps; at the first step after determination of the depth of the well tightening one continues drilling of the well not less than the instant of stabilization of the chip liberation from it. After that the well is tightened to depth not less than the depth of the section with the maximal chip liberation and one performs pumping-in of working liquid to the well under pressure the limits of which are determined through formulae. After that one goes to the second stage of wetting at which all the operations of the method are repeated, though at that one drills a well with larger length than the well at the first stage, and the depth of tightening is determined through a formula.
