<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mean for improving the bending strength of a glass base material on which a film layer of an inorganic substance is formed, in relation to a technology for improving the bending strength of a thin glass base material suitably used in a thin type display or the like using organic EL, a liquid crystal or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The bending strength of the glass base material is improved by forming a film layer comprising silica by coating the glass base material having a thickness of≤500μm with silica sol obtained by subjecting a silica precursor to hydrolysis to polycondensation, and bringing the film layer into contact with water. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
