PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a discrimination device capable of surely discriminating four states constituted of two objects to be discriminated which are different in surface reflectivity, using a simple constitution. SOLUTION: The discrimination device 77 is constituted of a presence/absence sensor 82 and discrimination sensors 84 and 86. The presence/absence sensor 82 can decide the presence/absence medium, based on whether irradiated light is reflected by the medium (planographic printing plate 20 or an inserting paper 22) which is the object to be discriminated; and the discrimination sensors 84 and 86 are constituted so as to discriminated between the planographic printing plate 20 and the inserting paper 22, on the basis of the intensity of reflected light, based on the difference in the surface reflectivity of the medium. Four modes of the fed medium can surely be discriminated by three optical sensors. Since these three optical sensors are sufficient and it is unnecessary to provide a member other than these for the purpose of discrimination, the constitution of the discrimination device becomes simple.
