PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of constructing an underground structure which exerts sufficient strength and exhibits excellent workability. SOLUTION: According to the method, when a plurality of cylinders are connected together so as to be along a cross-sectional shape of the underground structure 10 and inserted/embedded in the natural ground, the cylindrical bodies should be formed of square pipes 11, 12 each having a small cross section. Further the underground structure 10 is formed of a double-arched structure consisting of a first arched portion 11A and a second arched portion 12A arranged on an inner peripheral side of the first arched portion 11A via an intermediate ground portion 13, and the intermediate ground portion 13 being the natural ground between the arched portions is bound from above and below over the entire length of the constructed underground structure 10. Thus the first arched portion 11A as the outside arched portion, the intermediate ground portion 13 as the intermediate natural ground, and the second arched portion 12A as the inside arched portion are made deformable in one body with respect to bending moment applied thereto.
