METHOD FOR ASSESSING FITNESS OF RECRUITS WITH EUTHYROID GOITER FOR MILITARY SERVICE

The method for assessing the fitness of the recruits with euthyroid goiter for the military service provides for estimation of the extent of the goiter based on the data of ultrasonic examination (the calculation of the thyroid volume by multiplying its linear dimensions) and the data of echodopplerography of the thyroid. The latter is performed inthe spectral mode of the pulse dopplerography by measuring the maximal systolic blood flow rate and time-averaged blood flow rate (cm/s) in the thyroid, which are correlated closely with the extent of the gland enlargement. The linear flow rates in the vessels of thyroid parenchyma are measured with the Doppler window located over the vascular area. The spectral characteristics in this area are then recorded in real-time mode.
