ELEVATOR AND ITS EMERGENCY STOP TESTING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator and its emergency stop testing method capable of making sure the sheave idling condition of a hoist easily even if an operator etc. is in a position apart from the hoist at the time of performing an emergency stop test.

SOLUTION: A machine room-less elevator according to the invention includes a speed governor 4 to sense the over-speed of an elevator car 1 and an emergency stopping device 5 actuated by the governor 4 to prevent the car 1 from dropping and is configured so that the hoist 6 and a control device 7 are installed near a part under the shaft 10 or near the middle part, in which the governor 4 is located near the upper part of the shaft 10, and a signal to show that the sheave 62 of the hoist 6 is idling when the test is to be conducted, is transmitted to a notifying means installed near the uppermost floor or a notifying means installed in the car.
