<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for a novel porous nonmetallic inorganic material capable of forming a multiplicity of pores having good uniformity controlled in a specified direction in various kinds of nonmetallic inorganic materials, such as ceramics. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the porous nonmetallic inorganic material comprises successively partially melting a raw material composed of a nonmetallic inorganic material by a floating zone melting method while moving the raw material and dissolving gas into the molten inorganic material, then successively cooling and solidifying the molten inorganic material under gas atmosphere. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
