PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that conventional stopped article detection processing has a possibility that deceleration is reduced even when a preceding vehicle which a driver has followed stops and gives an uneasy feeling to the driver. SOLUTION: When the driver follows the preceding vehicle, and also, a variation amount of a preceding vehicle velocity is within a vehicle velocity variation amount range for the preceding vehicle, the stoppage of the preceding vehicle which the driver has followed is determined, and following control is continued, or a deceleration velocity is held for a while.
