PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a function of each part of an operating member on an LCD of a digital camera. SOLUTION: In shifting from a photography mode to a help mode, the first help image R11 is displayed on the LCD. When the side buttons of a cross key of digital camera is depressed, the first help images R12 and R13 are displayed on the LCD, in place of the first help image R11. Camera images 107, 108 and 109 are displayed on the first help image R11-R13. One part is selected from parts relevant to operating members shown on a camera image, by depressing the up/down button of the "cross-shaped" key. That the part has been selected is displayed on a region B using characters.
