PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a half-tone processing method by error diffusion, wherein error diffusion coefficient and/or threshold changes, preferably, error diffusion coefficient and/or threshold changes based on output error, or based on image source data added by accumulated error. SOLUTION: By varying the error diffusion coefficient and/or threshold, it is observed that the appearance of dots which bring deterioration of quality of an printed image is reduced. Preferably, a look-up table, based on output error or image source data added by accumulated error, is prepared so as to directly provide the error values for diffusion by the addition to the nearby the pixels, and further printer data are output.
