PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for selecting an optimal antenna while switching a plurality of antennas at high speed in a comparatively small circuit. SOLUTION: A radio communication apparatus 100 comprises antennas 1a, 1b. A switch 2 guides a signal to be received via an antenna that is selected according to an antenna switching signal to a demodulation section 6. Software packaged in a MAC section 7 generates a first switching signal. A diversity control section 8 generates a second switching signal by a hardware circuit provided therein. During a packet waiting term, the first switching signal is used as an antenna switching signal and while a packet is received, the second switching signal is used as the antenna switching signal.
