PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a curl can satisfactorily be straightened by a simple configuration compared to conventional configurations. SOLUTION: A fixing device 30 includes a fixing roll 31 and a pressure roll 32. The elastic layer 312 of the fixing roll 31 is lower in hardness than the elastic layer 322 of the pressure roll. Since the fixing roll 31 is pressed against the pressure roll 32 in such a configuration, the elastic layer 312 of the fixing roll 31 is deformed in a nip area N such that the pressure roll 32 is slightly pushed into the fixing roll 31. In this nip area N, the paper P is heated and pressed while deformed in the opposite direction of the curve of the curl.
